The fun really starts as the first flakes fall from the sky: we unpack our skis, snowshoes and toboggans and off we go outside. Our hotel is in a prime location right next to the Waldheim ski lift – the ideal place to learn how to ski and make your first turns on the powdery pistes … or to frolic in the snow and whizz down the slopes on the sledges. The Sesto cross-country ski trail also starts right outside our front door.
The action is not confined to the Waldheim slopes. No, the slopes of the Three Peaks Dolomites ski area also promise thrills and skiing pleasure on perfectly groomed slopes. The Monte Elmo-Sesto cable car is only a five-minute walk from the hotel. In cooperation with the Sesto ski school, children’s ski courses are also offered in both ski areas.
… the cross-country skiing trails in Sesto naturally also have a lot to offer. Cross-country skiers’ hearts beat faster while cruising through snow-covered forests and surrounded by high Dolomite peaks. No matter whether you are a beginner or a professional: everyone will find the right trail here. Ambitious cross-country skiers like to use the access to the cross-country ski run directly from the hotel, and from there they can easily and comfortably reach San Candido or Dobbiaco.
Insider tip: the Sesto panoramic high-altitude trail runs along the Carnic ridge and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains of the Val Pusteria valley.
You can leave tracks in the winter landscape not only with skis, but also with snowshoes. Our hotel is located directly at the entrance to the Val Fiscalina valley and invites you to trudge through the fluffy powder snow. However, many hiking trails are also perfectly groomed and easy to walk on with winter shoes. We ourselves prefer hiking to the Dreischusterhütte, to the Malga Nemes or to the Malga Klammbach alpine meadows.
